Spread

The gap between the buy price and the sell price. You pay it on every trade.

Example: on 0.10 lot of gold, a $0.30 spread costs $3 to enter, while a $1.50 spread costs $15. Spreads often widen at quiet hours, around the daily rollover and around big news. A wide spread can also trigger a tight stop.
