Stablecoin

A token designed to keep a steady price, usually 1 US dollar.

A stablecoin tries to stay at a fixed price, for example by holding real dollars or other assets behind it. It is only as stable as what stands behind it. Some stablecoins have lost their link to the dollar in the past, so stable is a goal, not a promise.
