Price gap

A jump where the price opens far from where it closed, with no trading in between.

Gaps often happen after the weekend or around big news. If gold closes on Friday at 4,060 and opens on Monday at 4,020, a stop at 4,040 is filled near 4,020. Smaller positions over the weekend limit the damage.
