Dividend

A part of a company's profit paid out to its shareholders, usually in cash.

A company that pays €2 per share a year pays €200 to someone with 100 shares. Dividends are never guaranteed; a company can cut or stop them. Some funds pay dividends out to you, others reinvest them.
